Running game

Jack’s Renewal Run

Register a domain, renew it, then try to leave. Jack has to jump pre-ticked add-ons, fake countdowns, renewal price hikes and a cancel flow with no way out. Every trap he hits goes on the bill.

Pinball

Jack’s Pinball

Knock down three registrar tricks, spell CHILL for double points, and sink the ball in Jack’s bed for the Jack-pot. The ball is a tennis ball, because it’s his table.

Whack-a-mole

Whack-a-Fee

Registrar tricks keep popping up in Jack’s backyard. Bonk the add-ons, countdowns and exit fees before they land on your bill, and leave Jack’s tennis ball alone: that’s your domain.

Fishing game

Gone Fishin’ with Jack

Jack has his rod, his bucket hat and nowhere to be. Cast out, wait for the float to bob, reel it in, have a look and let it go. Then do it again, for as long as you like.

No score, no timer · keyboard or touch

Rhythm game

Jack’s Nap

Jack is asleep, and YourRegistrar, a made-up registrar, wants his attention. Its texts, emails and calls arrive in time with a jazz band: snooze each one on the beat, hold the calls until they ring out, and keep him asleep through four rounds.

Just the Domain, Please

Two minutes on the sale clock to buy one domain for one year, and nothing else. The boxes come pre-ticked, every “Remove” asks if you’re sure, and the coloured button is rarely the one you want.

Mini golf

Jack’s Mini Golf

Seven holes on a made-up registrar’s course, par 20, with one trick on every hole: pre-ticked extras, a cheap first year, a fake countdown and a cancel flow that won’t let you out. The scorecard adds up the bill.

Why a domain company makes games

Plenty of domain sellers play games with you: the one-cent first year, the extras already in the cart, the renewal price that jumps. We’d rather not. So we made some real games instead, starring Jack, our retired greyhound. They’re free, they run in your browser, and there’s nothing to sign up for.

Most of these games are built from tricks people run into when they buy a domain for real, from countdowns that reset to cancel flows with no exit. Playing through them is quicker than reading about them, and you get to win. The real-world versions are on our dark patterns page, and our written promises say what we do instead.

The short version: a .com.au at Chill is $20 a year inc GST and renews at the same $20 list price. No pre-ticked extras, no fake countdowns, and turning off auto-renew is one click. See every extension’s price.

Prices and promises last checked: .

Are the games free?
Yes, all of them. There’s nothing to install, no account and no ads in the games. Your best scores stay in your own browser.
Is anything recorded or sent anywhere?
Nothing from the games. They run entirely in your browser. Like the rest of our site, the pages count visits with Google Analytics (see our privacy policy).
Is YourRegistrar a real company?
No. YourRegistrar, the villain in Renewal Run, Just the Domain, Jack’s Nap and Jack’s Mini Golf, is made up, and so are its prices. The tricks are real, though: our case files show some of them in real domain carts.
Is Jack real?
Very. He’s a retired greyhound who saves his running for when it counts and sleeps the rest of the time. Meet Jack.

Ready when you are

Bring your domains over, or start a new one.

Pop in a domain you already own and start the transfer in a few minutes. You’ll need its transfer code (auth code) from your current registrar. There’s no transfer fee: a .au transfer is free unless it’s within 90 days of expiry, when it includes the $20 renewal. New domain instead? Search for it and pay by card at checkout.
