A .com costs $28 a year including GST at Chill Domains, and renewal is the same list price. Anyone, anywhere can register one — .com has no eligibility rules. It’s run by Verisign and is still the default extension for a site with an international audience.

.com or .com.au for an Australian business?
If most of your customers are in Australia, .com.au is the usual first choice. It tells people you’re local, and auDA’s eligibility rules mean only registrants with an Australian connection can hold one.
A .com makes more sense if you sell overseas, or you want a name that doesn’t depend on where your business is registered. Plenty of businesses hold both and point one at the other. URL forwarding is included, so you can set that up in your dashboard.
