A game

Jack’s Pinball

A free pinball table in your browser. Bust the registrar tricks, spell CHILL, and sink the ball in Jack’s bed while he’s asleep. Three balls. No coins.

The ball is a tennis ball, because it’s Jack’s table. Runs entirely in your browser: nothing to install, no account, and your best score stays in this browser.

How to play

Hold Space (or the right half of the table on a phone) to pull the plunger back, and let go to launch. The longer you hold, the harder it goes. Then keep the ball in play with the flippers: left and right arrows, or Z and /. You have three balls, and a ball saver for the first few seconds of each one.

The bumpers at the top are Register, Renew and Relax, which is the whole idea. The three red targets on the left are tricks domain customers run into for real; on this table you get to knock them over. At the end of each ball you get a bonus for every target and lane you hit, times the multiplier.

The tricks on the left wall, and what we do instead

  • The fake countdown. “Price expires in 4:59”, to rush you into a longer term. At Chill, the price is the price. Take a week to think about it.
  • The pre-ticked add-on. A “privacy upgrade” or “website builder” already ticked at checkout. At Chill, the checkout has the domain. That’s it.
  • The exit fee. A charge, or a “quick call first”, before you can take your domain elsewhere. At Chill, sign in and reveal your transfer code any time. No exit charge, no retention call.

Each one matches a written promise on our How it works page, and there are more on our dark patterns page. A .com.au at Chill is $20 a year inc GST and renews at the same $20 list price (see every extension’s price).

Prices and promises last checked: .

Can I play it on my phone?
Yes. Touch the left half of the table for the left flipper and the right half for the right one. To launch, hold the right half and let go. Full screen gives the table the most room. On an iPhone, check the silent switch if you want the sound effects.
Is anything recorded or sent anywhere?
Nothing from the game. It runs entirely in your browser, and your best score and sound setting stay in this browser only. Like the rest of our site, the page counts visits with Google Analytics (see our privacy policy).
Why does the ball sometimes get a nudge?
If the ball ever stops dead somewhere on the table, the game bumps it after a couple of seconds so you’re never stuck. It doesn’t happen while you’re holding a flipper up, so you can still trap the ball and take aim.
Is Jack real?
Very. He’s a retired greyhound, and these days he saves the running for when it counts. The rest of the time he’s asleep, much like on the table. Meet Jack, or watch him nap through a rainy night.

Ready when you are

Bring your domains over, or start a new one.

Pop in a domain you already own and start the transfer in a few minutes. You’ll need its transfer code (auth code) from your current registrar. There’s no transfer fee: a .au transfer is free unless it’s within 90 days of expiry, when it includes the $20 renewal. New domain instead? Search for it and pay by card at checkout.
